While the leeks were growing in my garden, turning into pure magic, I took many, many photographs. The love for my garden, my love for nature, my interest in sculpting Artist Dolls and making books, all came together this latest creative adventure:
My second Handmade Artist Book: Magic Happens
The book is about 12x17 cm, and almost 3cm think (in fairness, most of this comprises of the hard fabric covered cover). There are 13 full page photographs and the 13 pages with a few words to bring you on a magical journey. See blow for a few sample pages, but I won't reveal all, otherwise there is no magic anymore!
If you happen to be interested in your own copy, I've decided to create a signed limited edition again (50), like Flying on Little Wings. The books will be made to order and all, or most, will have a different fabric used for the cover, as I am using remnants of upholstery, and rich curtain fabrics.
I certainly enjoyed the making of it!

Thats a truly stunning series of photographs, thanks so much for sharing them with us.
Thank you "Edinburgh flats"
I simply HAD to make a little book from these photos. At least I have some of them now of the computer and into my hands.
The leeks inspired the sculpture I made recently. She features in the book Magic Happens see http://www.corinaduyn.com/site/category/for_sale/books/ if you're interested in a copy.
Lovely to have your company here and thank you for all the comments.

Beautiful Corina. I started very simple book binding a few months ago. It is a wonderful craft. I would say your books are a lot more advanced than my efforts !!!!!
I hope your health is good, and that you are getting to have a lot of fun creating in your garden work-shop.

Thank you Bernadette!
It probably looks more advanced... it actually is just very simple stiching.
Love to learn more about book binding and hear more about what you have done so far.
The studio is a place of beauty, and it really is inspiring me, and given me the space to, create.
In the next few day will show a piece I have made there recently and the story behind it.
Be good and be creative!

Lovely work! Another thing I've wanted to do! - make books. When I was a teenager, I used to get boys' magazines and one year I bound all the months' copies of two of the magazines into books. I don't remember having any difficulty, although of course that is a long time ago.
There are just too many things to do, aren't there? Oh, and yes, I do like your book, looks a wonderful thing to hold. Your photos look very interesting ...
Best wishes
Adam
Thanks Adam,
I know, there is soooo much to do, to explore, to try out!
Do you still have those bound magazines?
Still on the painting trail? Addictive?
Best wishes
Corina
Corina, no, left my books behind in Edinburgh many many years ago! Still painting although last couple of days have been recording music LPs and burning to CDs. We have SO MANY LPs but CDs are much easier to use.
Take care
Adam
